Step-Parent Adoption
Step-parent adoption is the act of adopting the non-biological children of one’s spouse.
Sometimes, when a divorced person remarries, or following the death of a spouse the surviving spouse decides to marry again, a step-parent wants to adopt the children from a prior marriage or relationship.
This is an easy and joyous process when it is an appropriate next step!
The attorneys at Transitions Legal can guide families through the step-parent adoption process from start to finish.
There are many reasons a step-parent may choose to become a legal parent of step-children. Perhaps they want to create a more cohesive family. They may want to assume legal and financial responsibility for the children.
